The Code of the Order of the Brethren (set down by the pirates Morgan and Bartholemew)
aka Rules.


The role of the Mods
The Mods will be around to ensure fair play through the game, and generally create a fun and involving environment for the characters to play in. To that end, we will be trying to give as many opportunities as possible for the characters to interact, and aim the keep the RP light-hearted fun for everyone. However, we will pop up every now and again to nag remind you about tagging and such like.

There will be mod lists and contact info for you on the main page, and if for any reason we are unavailable to you, there is a mod contact post that we will keep an eye on. Please don't be reluctant to come to us: we're here to make this game work and ensure people get as much enjoyment our of it as possible. In return, we ask that you read and follow the rules, and keep in touch!

Godmoding
For those of you who are seasoned RP-ers, this shouldn’t need to be said, but it bears repeating here and now.

In short: godmoding is when you ascribe attributes to your character that have not been agreed upon, or when you control another person’s character without their permission. Do not write as another’s character, and do not try to control them. Always ask permission before you do something to another character, or at least give them an opening to react.

IC/OOC
Please try to keep in character! If you have a disagreement with another player, do not take it out through your characters. Conversely, do not change your character just to fulfil a pairing. If this were an AU RP you’d have a little leeway – but your character is being pulled from their world into Disney’s. Their personalities and pasts are as canonically stated. Although this leaves room for character devlopment, in picking up a character you’re agreeing to play them as they are, rather than pluck another personality from somewhere else!

Manners
Another one that shouldn't have to be mentioned - you probably see this in every other livejournal community anyway, but we ask for good manners OOC. Obviously we can't quite ask for this IC as well, as it may be that it's not in your character's nature to be polite. Conversely, please don't take IC insults personally. If there is a problem with OOC rudeness, please let a mod know and we'll discuss the problem with the parties involved.

Spelling and Grammar
Spelling and grammar mistakes are perfectly understandable, but please take some care in your writing. Make use of the return button to space out your paragraphs, and please, no text speak.

Sex, blood and violence
It’s all fair game – you’re sailing with pirates, after all! However, please remember to keep NC17 posts friendslocked and post up warnings. And remember – there are still consequences! They just might not come when you’d expect them!

Group Plots
Please contact a mod to give an OK on big group plots (5 characters or more) through the plot/events suggestions page... and please don't mutiny on your captains! The main reason for this is just so that we know what's going on.

Character Limit
At the moment, the character limit is two (2) characters per player. This will change depending on activity and length of time spent in the RP, and we ask that you do not play more than two characters from the same fandom.

Reservations
Character reservations can be found here. They will be held for a week, and an extension will be given on the first request, no questions asked. However, a reason will be required for a second extension. A third extension will not be granted.

Applications for characters reserved by others will be denied.

Applications
We ask that you make an effort with your application. It doesn’t need to be an essay, but please respect the minimum counts we have listed, and use your own words. A copy-paste from Wikipedia or similar will be met with an immediate denial. We'd also like to hear you sing 'A Pirate's Life for Me', or at least part of it, somewhere in your application, but please not in the subject line!

We will not be accepting Original Characters or celebrities.

Activity
Please be active! Activity checks will be carried out once a month, once the community is stable – at this point, we’re looking to have the first activity check two months into play, but it depends on how well things take off. The character limit will likely be extended after the second activity check, but this also depends on how numbers go for the RP.

Hiatus
Please inform a mod through this post if you are to take a hiatus!

Dropping
Please review the character drop procedure here!

We ask that you drop by the plot page if you haven't already, as this clears up information on posting and plot, and will hopefully answer any questions you might have.
